Thief makes off with $7 worth of copper; leaves $1,000 property damage
ffi An estimated $1,000 in damage was reported following the theft of $7 worth of copper.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone damaged an air conditioning unit at a business in the 700 block of Cherokee Avenue between April 30 and May 2 while stealing copper. ffi An estimated $175 in damage was reported following a recently discovered break-in on 3rd Avenue.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced open the front door of a residence in the 100 block between April 24 and May 1, damaging the screen on a window.
Nothing was reported missing from the interior. ffi An estimated $400 worth of copper was reported stolen May 1 from a Buck Shoals Road residence.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the theft occurred between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the 300 block. ffi An estimated $400 worth of malicious damage was reported after someone vandalized a South Carolina Department of Transportation construction vehicle.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone smashed the back window of a SCDOT-owned backhoe that was parked in the 100 block of Cashion Drive in Blacksburg between 3 p.m. April 30 and 9 a.m. May 1. ffi An estimated $400 worth of malicious damage was reported May 1 on Ridgecrest Drive in Blacksburg.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone damaged the front door of a residence in the 100 block between 5 p.m. April 28 and 8 a.m. May 1.
The damage was caused with an unknown object, according to the report. ffiMore than $1,300 in theft losses were reported following the recent burglary of a Horse Creek Road, Chesnee, storage building.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced entry to a storage building in the 300 block between 7:30 p.m. April 30 and 6:30 a.m. May 1 and took a car stereo, a 20-inch McCulloughbrand chainsaw, a 16-inch Homelite-brand chain saw, a Lowe's-brand air compressor, a Skill-brand saw, and a 110-volt wire welder. ffi An estimated $200 in malicious damage was reported April 30 at a Clearfield Drive home.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone damaged the rear door of a residence in the 100 block between 2 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. by breaking the glass.
No theft losses were reported. ffi Cash was reported stolen May 3 from a vehicle parked on General Drive.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone entered a vehicle parked in the 100 block between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. and took $67 cash from a wallet left inside the vehicle.
The thief or thieves entered through an unlocked door. ffi An estimated $1,300 in malicious damage was reported April 1 on River Drive.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone cut the passenger side tires on a 2007 Mitsubishi parked in the 1200 block and also cut the side of an above-ground swimming pool. ffi A thief stole the faceplate of a car stereo May 2 on Goucher Green Bethel Road.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone entered the vehicle and committed the theft between 1 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. while the vehicle was parked in the 1000 block.
The stereo faceplate is valued at $200. ffi A thief took more than $500 in tools and other property during a recently discovered burglary on Eden Drive.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone entered the laundry room of a home in the 300 block between April 30 and May 2 and took a red-colored Craftsman toolbox that contained miscellaneous hand tools and a pair of size-13 Wolverinebrand steel-toed work boots. ffi A thief stole a spare tire from a tractor-trailer while the truck's driver was sleeping in the cab at a local truck stop.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, the theft occurred between 11:30 p.m. May 1 and 7 a.m. May 2 while a driver for Californiabased Swift Trucking was stopped overnight at the Pilot Truck Stop on Hyatt Street.
The spare tire is valued at $200.
