The Timken Foundation has provided a $100,000 grant towards the new Blacksburg High track.
Construction is underway on a new 8-lane competition track and field event areas on the track beside the school’s football field. The donation from Timken will help with equipment purchase for items such as nets for discus and shot put areas and mats for field events.
Former Gaffney High standout Shaq Davidson is no longer on the South Carolina football team.
Davidson took a redshirt season after he signed with USC in 2014.
He was a Shrine Bowl and U.S. Army All-America Bowl selection, throwing for 1,539 yards and rushing for 762 yards as a senior quarterback at Gaffney.
He scored 20 touchdowns.

The Gaffney boys varsity basketball team didn’t exactly finish the season strong, losing their last two games.
However, the Indians have qualified for the playoffs no matter what happens when the region teams close out the regular season tonight.
The Indians finished their regular season with a 65-59 loss at Nation Ford on Tuesday to finish with a 6-6 region mark.
